Material Vibes:
-
Precious Metals and stone set: For the ultimate in show stopping statement style, seek out or commission a breath taking piece in high quality precious metals featuring divine gems or pearls. Whilst this option obviously comes at a higher price we can of course balance the metal weight and design of a piece to meet your desired price point.
- Gold toned: Gold prices are at an all time high so if you want to feel like royalty on a less extravagant budget, this is your go-to. At Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2025 Paris show, chunky gold bamboo torques made from gold toned aluminium turned heads with their striking presence.
- Silver: Classic, understated, and pairs with everything. For lasting style opt for a satin solid silver, its weighty presence exudes serene luxury, beautifully exemplified in Annika Rutlin's jewellery collections. Alternatively a highly polished design will accentuate a crisp and clean look.
- Bronze or Brass: Tribal, earthy, and gives off serious ancient warrior vibes. Isabel Marant models wore a variety of metal torcs paired with fringed clothing, accessories and gladiator sandals at Paris Fashion Week, Spring/ Summer 2025.

Fit, Comfort and Face Shape
Think about your face and body shape as torcs come in a variety of styles;
- Torcs are generally rigid, so getting the right fit is key. The best option is to choose a designer that can adjust the shape to fit your body type. Some designs allow for a bit of adjustment, but make sure it sits comfortably on your neck without feeling too tight or heavy.
- To get the correct fit measure where you would like it to sit... width across neck and depth it hangs down from back of neck to chest. As all our jewellery is made in-house we are able to make to customised dimensions.
- The most common face shape is oval and, with their soft curved features, can wear almost any shape of torc.
- Round torcs can be particularly flattering on oblong or rectangular faces as they lessen the length of the face.
- V-shaped or open fronted torcs are particularly well-suited for round and square faces due to their slimming and softening effect.
- Long necks are flattered by tight high sitting torcs, whilst short necks look better with a torc that hangs lower down on the chest.

Alternatives
- Weight can have a major impact on how comfortable you feel wearing a torc. Even lighter weight torcs , like Annika's Monsoon Torcs, will style achieve a striking look.
- If you really can't get on with a solid torque many contemporary jewellers also offer alternative types that offer a more flexible fit whilst retaining that undeniably cool style. Annika Rutlin options a variety of 'Faux' torc styles - articulated versions, 3-part designs and part chain versions - alternatives to the traditional solid piece that move with the body for ease of wear but create that same bold feel.

Testimonial from Alastair on his RN70 torc necklace purchase:
''Another awesome piece! I love the torque style necklace. It has the look/style of a torque but is more practical, being articulated. It also sits very well with my other pieces from Annika. And, as ever, the customs service was exceptional 👌🏻''

How to Rock Your Torc Like a Pro
Wondering how to style your torc? There are no hard and fast rules but here are some handy tips:
Torcs complement almost any style but truly stand out when fully backed—whether resting directly on the skin or against fabric. To maintain their striking sculptural effect, avoid crossing clothing necklines that may disrupt the look.
For a Casual Look:
- Pair a silver or brass torc with a simple tee and jeans for effortless cool.
- Still in love with stacking - Style it with other longer necklaces for a layered effect.
